China has warned the United States that it will not hesitate to wage war over Taiwan, vowing to demolish the renegade island.

Fears have been circulating that China, emboldened by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, may grab the chance to attack Taiwan.

President Joe Biden of the United States has pledged to defend the island, which has long sought full independence from the Communist Party of China.

And relations between Beijing and Washington deteriorated once further when Chinese general Wei Fenghe delivered a stern warning to the United States.

On the margins of the Shangri-La Dialogue security event in Singapore, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin met with Chinese Defense Minister Wei.

He promised that any attempt at Taiwan independence would be smashed to smithereens, and that the Communist behemoth will staunchly preserve the motherland’s union.

Taiwan is China’s Taiwan, according to Wei. According to defense ministry spokesperson Wu Qian, using Taiwan to control China would never succeed.

Austin underlined the significance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, according to a statement released by Washington.

According to the US Department of Defense, he asked China to avoid more destabilizing steps toward Taiwan.

Taiwan is regarded to be a key flashpoint between Washington and Beijing, with an invasion compelling the United States to either surrender the island or go to war with China.

After breaking from mainland China in 1949, Taiwan maintains its independence.

Beijing, on the other hand, has always asserted that Taiwan is still theirs by right, and has promised to retake the island by 2050.

Officials from China’s military ministry restated that stance Wednesday, promising to destroy any effort at Taiwan independence while preserving national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Beijing has increased military operations in the previous two years, flying airplanes and sailing warships near to the island.
