One of Shakur Stevenson’s most memorable nights took a worrying turn at his post-fight press conference.

After defeating Oscar Valdez to unify the WBO, WBC, and The Ring super featherweight belts, the unbeaten Newark native got engaged to his fiancée, rapper Young Lyric, by proposing in the ring.

A scuffle broke out outside the press conference room at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas while Stevenson was speaking to the media after the fight, and he dropped his championships and went out into the ruckus.

It’s unclear who began the brawl or who was engaged. “Where is my mother?” Stevenson asks in the video. Stevenson’s mother was not allowed into the news conference, according to Yahoo Sports. Stevenson’s manager, James Prince, told Yahoo that he and his mother were alright, but an MGM Grand official declined to comment until further information was available.

MGM employees and a boxing spokesperson attempted to convince us there was nothing to see here fine, said USA Today’s Lance Pugmire, who tweeted footage of punches being thrown. In the midst of a bunch of officers characterized by Pugmire as agitators, Stevenson assumed his mother was in jeopardy.

Stevenson improved to 18-0 with a unanimous decision against Valdez.
